Educated at the Trinity School Ware, Barry later moved to Cardiff where he trained as a remedial gymnast and subsequently as a chartered physiotherapy teacher. 1988 saw Barry and his family move to Shipley, working for Bradford Health Authority, and latterly University of Bradford. Barry was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 2003 and was based at St Mary & St Walburga’s Catholic Church, in Shipley. In June 2009, Barry was appointed as Chaplain to BCCS, along with Latif, and as such had been involved in the service since its infancy.
Before leaving BCCS Barry completed the training for the fifth cohort of volunteers, he has a great skill for making training (or anything else for that matter) fun. He uses humour as a great tool and is often on the receiving end of good natured jibes. Barry and his wife Sue decided to move to Kent due to family commitments. Since leaving they have both busied themselves with the local churches, Barry has commenced a teaching post at the University of Canterbury and Sue is busy finding decorating jobs around the new house for Barry. They also became proud grandparents to George. Photo to Right: Barry’s leaving do
